CHAPTER 3: THE TRUTH ON CAMERA

CHAPTER 3: THE TRUTH ON CAMERA

While the paramedics prepared to transport her, an officer reviewed the security recordings with Daniel present.

The video showed everything.

Gloria insulting her daughter-in-law throughout dinner.

Daniel receiving the message on his phone.

The argument.

His wife remaining seated.

Then—

The slap.

The force of the impact.

Her body striking the edge of the marble table before collapsing onto the floor.

The room fell silent.

The recording continued.

It captured Gloria laughing.

It captured her shouting, "Get out of my house!"

It captured Daniel making no attempt to help his injured wife.

The officer paused the footage.

He turned toward Daniel.

"You're under arrest on suspicion of domestic assault."

Daniel stared at the screen, unable to speak.

Gloria rushed forward.

"There must be some mistake! She's trying to ruin my son's life!"

The officer calmly replied,

"Ma'am, the camera doesn't have an opinion. It records what happened."

As another officer asked Gloria to step back, the injured woman quietly handed over a folder from the nearby cabinet.

"What's this?" the officer asked.

"The property deed."

He opened it.

The registered owner of the apartment was the woman who had just been told to leave.

The officer looked at Gloria.

May you like

"You ordered her out of her own home."

Gloria's face turned pale.
