Chapter 2: Sunrise Without an Empire

The black SUV sped through the sleeping city toward Escalante Holdings' headquarters.

Mariana stepped into the executive boardroom just before midnight.

Around the polished table sat twelve directors, the company's chief legal counsel, and her father, Alejandro Escalante.

He stood as she entered.

"Did he finally force your hand?"

Mariana nodded.

"He struck me."

A heavy silence settled over the room.

Alejandro closed the folder before him.

"Then we proceed."

The chief legal officer distributed confidential documents.

For years, Andrew had believed he was the founder of Hawthorne Capital.

What he never knew was that every major investment had been financed through Escalante Holdings under a private family trust.

Mariana had personally negotiated the rescue package when Andrew's company stood weeks from bankruptcy.

She had asked for only one condition.

Her ownership would remain undisclosed until she chose otherwise.

That night, she chose.

At 12:07 a.m., the board unanimously approved the activation of the trust's protective clauses.

Andrew's executive authority was suspended.

Every corporate account requiring majority-shareholder approval was frozen.

Every luxury property purchased under company ownership was transferred back under Escalante Holdings' direct control.

Mariana signed the final page.

"I'm not destroying his company."

She looked around the room.

"I'm simply taking back what never stopped being mine."
