CHAPTER 3 — THE EMPIRE BEHIND THE NAME

CHAPTER 3 — THE EMPIRE BEHIND THE NAME

Victor walked directly to Evelyn.

Without saying a word, he draped his jacket over her shoulders.

Then he turned toward Adrian.

"You've enjoyed using the Vale name."

Adrian forced a smile.

"And you are?"

"The majority shareholder of Vale International."

The smile disappeared.

"What?"

"You assumed your grandfather left you the company."

Victor folded his hands.

"He didn't."

He nodded toward one of the attorneys.

A thick folder landed on the dining table.

"The voting trust established fifteen years ago placed controlling ownership under my management until my daughter decided whether you were fit to lead."

Vanessa frowned.

"That's ridiculous."

The attorney calmly opened the file.

Signed agreements.

Board resolutions.

Audited ownership records.

Every page carried official seals.

Adrian flipped through them with shaking hands.

"This... this can't be real."

"It has always been real."

Victor's voice remained calm.

"You simply never cared enough to read what you signed."

Another investigator stepped forward.

"We've also executed warrants concerning financial fraud, tax evasion, and money laundering."

He placed photographs beside the documents.

Fake consulting invoices.

Offshore transfers.

Shell companies.
