PART 2: The Truth They Couldn’t Hide

PART 2: The Truth They Couldn’t Hide

The dining room remained silent.

No one returned to their meals.

No one even looked at the menu anymore.

Every eye followed David.

He rubbed his hands together as if trying to erase what everyone had just witnessed.

"It was just an argument," he said quickly. "She overreacted."

"No," Elena replied evenly.

"You assaulted your wife."

Rebecca scoffed.

"Oh, for heaven's sake. Married couples fight."

A woman from a nearby table stood up.

"I saw him pull her hair."

Then another voice spoke.

"So did we."

Within seconds, people throughout the restaurant began speaking at once.

"I recorded part of it."

"My husband saw everything."

"The security cameras caught it."

David's face turned pale.

The restaurant manager stepped forward.

"Our entire dining room is covered by surveillance cameras."

He looked directly at David.

"The footage has already been secured for the police."

Rebecca's confident smile disappeared.

She leaned toward Maya.

"Tell them it was a misunderstanding."

Maya didn't answer.

For years, she would have.

She would have apologized.

Made excuses.

Protected the man hurting her.

Tonight...

She simply walked across the room until she was standing beside her mother.

Elena quietly wrapped an arm around her shoulders.

"You don't have to protect him anymore."

For the first time in years...

Maya believed her.
