The woman struggled to speak.
"Why... why would the grandson of Charles Harrington work in a kitchen?"
Before I could answer, my grandfather smiled.
"Because I wanted him to earn respect before he inherited responsibility."
He turned to the guests.
"I told him never to reveal his name."
"Not until someone judged his character instead of his family."
The representative from the Culinary Foundation opened his briefcase.
Inside was a gold envelope.
He handed it to me.
"We're pleased to offer you the International Young Chef Fellowship."
Applause slowly filled the room.
Not because of my family.
Because every guest now understood the truth.
The menu they had praised all evening...
Had been created entirely by the teenager they had ignored.
The socialite's face turned pale.
She whispered,
