Six months later, the children's hospital opened a new pediatric therapy center.

It wasn't named after Michael.

It wasn't named after his late wife.

At his request, it carried a simple inscription:

"For Every Child Who Deserves Kindness."

His daughter stood beside the plaque holding the same signed jersey, now framed behind protective glass.

She looked up at her father.

"Mom would've been proud, wouldn't she?"

Michael smiled.

"She already is."

As visitors walked through the new center, they weren't inspired by the expensive auction or the record-breaking bid.

They remembered the little girl whose tears reminded everyone that kindness is the greatest gift anyone can give.
