The general manager rushed into the lobby, breathless.
"Mr. Sterling..."
"I've just seen the footage."
Alexander didn't even look at him.
"Play it."
Within seconds, every screen in the lobby displayed the security recording.
Guests watched in complete silence.
Sandra approaching the child.
Sandra shouting.
Sandra slapping her.
Nobody could deny what had happened.
When the recording ended, Alexander addressed everyone in the lobby.
"My daughter asked me a question this morning."
He looked down at Lily, who was holding his hand tightly.
"She asked how you know whether a hotel is truly luxurious."
He paused.
"I told her it wasn't because of the marble floors."
"Or the crystal chandeliers."
"Or the price of the rooms."
He slowly turned toward the crowd.
"It's how people are treated when they appear to have nothing."
Many guests lowered their eyes.
Some who had watched silently now looked ashamed.
Alexander continued.
