Detectives searched the hidden room until one officer noticed loose bricks behind an old bookshelf.
Inside the cavity was a small leather diary.
It belonged to Elena.
Its first pages described the day she disappeared.
She had not run away.
She had been drugged after a charity gala.
When she woke up, Vivian told everyone Alejandro had abandoned her after a nervous breakdown.
Every attempt Elena made to escape ended the same way.
Vivian threatened the servants.
She forged medical documents.
She bribed lawyers and security personnel.
Worst of all, she convinced Elena that Alejandro had signed papers declaring her mentally unstable.
For months, Elena believed her husband no longer wanted her.
The final diary entry ended with only six heartbreaking words:
"If you're alive... please find me."
