Chapter 3 – Three Years of Silence

Chapter 3 – Three Years of Silence

The hardest part about being trapped was not the locked doors.

It was the waiting.

Waiting for someone to notice.

Waiting for someone to ask questions.

Waiting for someone to believe you.

For three years, Elena Castillo lived inside a nightmare that nobody knew existed.

The world believed she was gone.

Her husband believed she had disappeared.

Her friends mourned her.

Her photographs were slowly removed from public view.

Her name became something people spoke about in the past tense.

But Elena was still alive.

Breathing.

Existing.

Watching someone else live the life that belonged to her.

The Woman Who Vanished

Three years ago, Elena had everything.

A loving husband.

A beautiful home.

A future she was excited about.

She never cared about Alejandro's wealth.

In fact, that was one of the things he loved about her.

She challenged him.

She disagreed with him.

She reminded him that behind the expensive suits and business deals was just a man who wanted to be loved.

But everything changed after one phone call.

A call that ended with her losing everything.

The Day Everything Disappeared

Elena still remembered the sound of the rain.

She remembered driving through the city.

She remembered thinking about dinner plans with Alejandro.

They were supposed to celebrate their anniversary that week.

She had even bought him a gift.

A simple watch.

Nothing expensive.

Just something that reminded him to slow down.

Because Alejandro always worked too hard.

Then she received the message.

Come alone. I know who is trying to destroy your marriage.

At first, Elena ignored it.

She thought it was another attempt to create drama.

But then another message arrived.

A photograph.

Alejandro.

Standing outside a hotel.

With a woman.

The image was unclear.

But the message was designed perfectly.

Your husband is hiding something.

Elena never believed Alejandro would betray her.

But she was human.

She was curious.

And that curiosity led her to Vivian.

Vivian's Trap

The meeting was supposed to last five minutes.

It lasted three years.

Vivian sat across from Elena in a quiet private room.

She looked calm.

Too calm.

"You came."

Elena frowned.

"You said you had information."

Vivian smiled.

"I do."

She placed a folder on the table.

Inside were photographs.

Fake messages.

Edited documents.

A collection of lies designed to create doubt.

Elena looked at everything.

Then looked at Vivian.

"You made these."

Vivian didn't deny it.

Instead, she smiled.

"You're smarter than I expected."

Elena stood.

"I am leaving."

But before she reached the door...

She felt dizzy.

The room moved.

Her hands became weak.

And Vivian's voice became the last thing she heard.

"Don't worry, Elena."

"You won't be leaving."

The First Month

When Elena woke up, she was inside the Castillo mansion.

But it didn't feel like home.

She was locked in a small room beneath the east wing.

A place nobody knew existed.

Vivian visited her every day.

Sometimes she was cruel.

Sometimes she was strangely kind.

That was what made her dangerous.

"You should understand something."

Vivian sat across from her.

"Alejandro is searching for you."

Hope appeared in Elena's eyes.

Then Vivian continued.

"But he will never find you."

"Why?"

Vivian smiled.

"Because I made sure everyone believes you left him."

The Lie That Destroyed Her

Vivian created a story.

Elena had become unhappy.

Elena wanted freedom.

Elena left voluntarily.

The world believed it because Vivian was careful.

She leaked small pieces of information.

A fake argument.

A fake message.

A fake reason for Elena to disappear.

The cruelest part?

Some people believed it.

Some people even blamed Elena.

They said:

"Maybe she got tired of being married to a billionaire."

"Maybe she wanted a new life."

"Maybe she abandoned him."

Every word hurt.

Because Elena was still there.

Listening.

Unable to defend herself.

Alejandro's Voice

The one thing that kept Elena alive was Alejandro.

Sometimes, late at night, she could hear him.

Not clearly.

But enough.

His voice traveled through the mansion.

Calling her name.

Asking employees for information.

Talking to investigators.

Refusing to stop searching.

That was the only thing Vivian could not destroy.

His love.

"You still believe he will save you?"

Vivian asked one night.

Elena looked at her.

"Yes."

Vivian laughed.

"You really think love is stronger than power?"

Elena answered quietly:

"With Alejandro, it is."

The Years of Silence

The first year was the hardest.

Elena cried every day.

She screamed for help.

She tried to escape.

She broke windows.

She damaged the lock.

She fought.

But every attempt had consequences.

Vivian always had the same threat.

Alejandro.

"If you run, I will destroy him."

"If you tell anyone, I will ruin his company."

"If you make trouble, people you love will suffer."

Elena hated that threat.

Because Vivian understood something.

Elena could survive suffering herself.

But she could not risk Alejandro's life.

Becoming Invisible

By the second year, Elena changed.

She stopped crying in front of Vivian.

She stopped begging.

She stopped showing fear.

Because she realized something.

Vivian enjoyed seeing her broken.

So Elena refused to give her that satisfaction.

She became quiet.

Observant.

Patient.

She watched.

She listened.

She memorized everything.

She learned Vivian's habits.

When she became careless.

Who she trusted.

Where documents were stored.

Which employees were afraid.

Elena was not giving up.

She was waiting.

The Maid Identity

The third year was when Vivian made her biggest mistake.

She became confident.

Too confident.

She no longer saw Elena as a threat.

She believed she had won.

So she moved Elena from the hidden room.

Into the mansion.

As a maid.

"You should be grateful."

Vivian smiled.

"At least now you can see sunlight."

Elena looked at the maid uniform.

A symbol of humiliation.

But she accepted.

Because being inside the mansion gave her something she never had before.

Information.

She learned about Vivian's business dealings.

She learned about the fake ownership documents.

She learned about the people helping her.

And then...

She heard something that changed everything.

The Mistake Vivian Made

One evening, Elena was cleaning the hallway when she overheard Vivian speaking on the phone.

"I don't care if Alejandro keeps searching."

A pause.

"He will stop eventually."

Another pause.

Then Vivian said:

"Because by the time he finds Elena..."

"She will already belong to me."

Elena froze.

Not because of the words.

Because of the name.

Alejandro.

She realized something.

Vivian had become careless.

She believed she was untouchable.

Then came the moment Elena never expected.

The mansion doors opened.

Footsteps echoed.

A voice she hadn't heard directly in three years filled the hallway.

"Elena..."

Her heart stopped.

Alejandro was home.

The First Look

When their eyes met, everything disappeared.

Three years.

Three years of pain.

Three years of silence.

Three years of believing they might never see each other again.

Alejandro looked at her like he was seeing a ghost.

And Elena wanted to run to him.

She wanted to cry.

She wanted to tell him everything.

But fear controlled her body.

Because Vivian was watching.

Alejandro saw the fear.

And he understood.

The woman he loved was not avoiding him.

She was afraid of what would happen if she spoke.

That night changed everything.

Because the silence was finally broken.

The woman Vivian tried to erase had been found.

And now Alejandro knew the truth.

The question was no longer:

Where is Elena?

The question was:

Who helped Vivian steal three years of her life?

Because Alejandro Castillo was no longer searching for his missing wife.

He was hunting the people who took her.

And this time...

May you like

Nobody would stop him.
