Chapter 5 – Vivian’s Perfect Lie

Chapter 5 – Vivian’s Perfect Lie

The name Elena whispered remained in the air.

Like a warning.

Like a wound.

Alejandro stared at her.

For three years, he had searched for answers.

He searched strangers.

Enemies.

Business rivals.

People who wanted revenge against him.

But never once did he imagine the betrayal could come from inside his own family.

"Who?"

His voice was quiet.

Too quiet.

Elena looked at him.

And he saw something that hurt more than the answer itself.

Fear.

She was afraid of what would happen when she told him.

The Person Behind the Curtain

"Elena."

Alejandro moved closer.

"You need to tell me."

She closed her eyes.

"I don't want you to hear it from someone else."

A pause.

"It was your cousin."

Alejandro froze.

"Marcus?"

Elena nodded.

Marcus Castillo.

The man who had been Alejandro's closest relative.

The man who stood beside him at business meetings.

The man who publicly supported Alejandro after Elena disappeared.

The man who often said:

"Brother, don't give up. We will find her."

Alejandro stepped back.

"No."

Elena looked at him sadly.

"I know what you're thinking."

"You think he couldn't do this."

Alejandro said nothing.

Because she was right.

Marcus wasn't just family.

He was someone Alejandro trusted.

The Perfect Lie

Three years earlier, while Elena was trapped inside the mansion, Marcus helped create the most convincing lie anyone had ever seen.

A lie so carefully designed that even Alejandro believed parts of it.

The world was told:

Elena left voluntarily.

She had been unhappy.

She wanted a different life.

She had taken money and disappeared.

But the truth was completely different.

Vivian created the story.

Marcus helped spread it.

Together, they built a version of reality where Elena became the villain.

And Vivian became the victim.

The Woman Everyone Believed

After Elena disappeared, Vivian did something brilliant.

She did not rush.

She waited.

She allowed people to believe Alejandro was broken.

Then she slowly appeared.

She became the person who supported him.

The person who helped manage his schedule.

The person who attended company events.

The person everyone saw standing beside him.

"She was careful."

Elena whispered.

"She didn't want people to think she replaced me."

"She wanted them to believe I abandoned you."

Alejandro's jaw tightened.

Because he understood.

Vivian didn't just steal his wife.

She destroyed her reputation first.

The Evidence Against Elena

Alejandro walked to the hidden room again.

He looked through the documents.

There were hundreds of pages.

Fake messages.

Fake emails.

Edited photographs.

Everything created to make Elena look guilty.

One file caught his attention.

A statement.

Signed with Elena's name.

His eyes narrowed.

"This isn't your signature."

Elena looked.

"No."

Her face became pale.

"I never signed that."

The document claimed Elena admitted she was leaving Alejandro.

That she no longer wanted the marriage.

That she was voluntarily giving up her rights.

Alejandro held the paper.

"She planned this from the beginning."

Elena nodded.

"Yes."

Vivian's Greatest Weapon

Later that day, Alejandro confronted Vivian.

She was sitting in the living room.

Calm.

Almost amused.

"You found the room."

Alejandro stood across from her.

"You knew I would."

Vivian smiled.

"I knew eventually you would."

"You imprisoned my wife."

Vivian took a sip of wine.

"Careful."

Her voice was soft.

"You are making emotional accusations."

Alejandro looked at her with disgust.

"You still think you can control this."

Vivian smiled.

"Because I can."

She reached for a folder.

Then placed it on the table.

Alejandro looked at it.

"What is that?"

"Proof."

Vivian's Counterattack

Inside the folder were legal documents.

Old agreements.

Property transfers.

Financial records.

Alejandro's expression changed.

Vivian noticed.

"Surprised?"

The documents showed something dangerous.

During Elena's disappearance, Marcus had transferred several Castillo assets under temporary management.

And Vivian had legal authority over them.

"How?"

Alejandro asked.

Vivian smiled.

"Because while you were searching for Elena..."

"I was protecting your company."

The lie was beautiful.

That was what made it dangerous.

The Public Story

Vivian had created a perfect public image.

She told everyone:

Alejandro was suffering.

She was helping him.

The company was unstable.

She was protecting the Castillo legacy.

And because Elena was missing...

Nobody questioned her.

Nobody asked:

Why was Vivian making decisions?

Why did she have access?

Why was she acting like the owner?

She had built a story where every suspicious action looked like sacrifice.

The Family Meeting

That evening, Alejandro called a family meeting.

Everyone came.

Marcus.

Vivian.

The Castillo relatives.

People who had spent years pretending to support him.

Alejandro stood at the head of the room.

Beside him stood Elena.

Alive.

No longer hidden.

The reaction was immediate.

Shock.

Fear.

Panic.

Marcus stood quickly.

"Elena?"

His expression was perfect.

Surprise.

Concern.

Relief.

But Alejandro noticed something.

A small movement.

A small hesitation.

Marcus wasn't shocked she was alive.

He was shocked she was standing there.

The Man Who Pretended to Search

Alejandro looked at him.

"You spent three years helping me find my wife."

Marcus nodded.

"Of course."

"And you never found her."

Marcus sighed.

"It was heartbreaking."

Alejandro placed the evidence on the table.

"Because she was here."

Silence.

Marcus looked at Elena.

Then at Vivian.

For a second...

Fear appeared.

Only a second.

But Alejandro saw it.

"You knew."

Marcus immediately shook his head.

"No."

"You knew she was alive."

"No."

"You helped hide her."

"I would never—"

Alejandro interrupted.

"Then explain why your fingerprints are on documents found in the hidden room."

The room went silent.

Marcus had no answer.

Vivian's Final Move

But Vivian did not panic.

Instead...

She smiled.

Alejandro noticed.

"You aren't worried."

Vivian looked at Elena.

Then back at him.

"Because you still don't know everything."

The same words.

Again.

The same confidence.

"What else?"

Vivian stood.

"You think Elena was the only person whose life I changed?"

Everyone froze.

She walked toward the window.

"Three years ago, Elena disappeared."

A pause.

"But something else happened that night."

Alejandro watched her carefully.

"What?"

Vivian turned.

"The reason Elena survived..."

"Was because someone wanted her alive."

Elena's face changed.

"No."

Alejandro looked at her.

"What does she mean?"

Elena didn't answer.

Because she remembered.

The night she disappeared.

The person who secretly brought her food.

The person who left medicine outside her door.

The person who whispered:

"Don't give up."

Someone had been helping her.

Someone inside Vivian's plan.

The New Mystery

Alejandro looked between Vivian and Elena.

"Who?"

Elena's eyes filled with uncertainty.

"I don't know."

"But I know one thing."

"What?"

She whispered:

"That person was trying to protect me."

Vivian smiled.

"Exactly."

"And now..."

She looked at Alejandro.

"You need to decide who you trust."

The room became silent.

Because Alejandro realized something terrifying.

The enemy was not just one person.

The betrayal was deeper.

The conspiracy was bigger.

And somewhere inside the Castillo family...

Someone had been hiding the truth for three years.

That night, Alejandro made a promise.

He would expose Vivian.

He would expose Marcus.

He would expose everyone involved.

But before he could destroy the lies...

He had to discover the person who secretly saved Elena.

Because that person held the missing piece of the story.

May you like

The piece that could finally reveal why Elena Castillo was never meant to survive.
