The billionaire’s jaw tightened.

“That’s not what I asked.”

The maid nodded once.

“I know.”

The little boy lifted his head slightly, confused by the tension, then hugged her again as if trying to anchor her back into something safe.

The woman in red finally broke.

“This is absurd,” she said quickly. “She’s the maid. You can’t seriously believe—”

But her voice faded when the billionaire raised his hand.

Not angrily.

Just enough.

Enough to stop everything.

Then he looked at the maid again.

“You never told me,” he said quietly.

Her eyes lowered.

“You never asked.”

That sentence landed harder than accusation.
