Chapter 2 – The Performance at the Front Door

The front door burst open before anyone could react.

Two police officers stepped inside, hands near their belts, eyes scanning the room with trained precision.

And right on cue—

my mother-in-law collapsed into her performance.

“Officers!” she cried, stumbling forward. “Thank God you’re here!”

Her voice cracked in all the right places.

Tears appeared as if summoned.

She pointed at me without hesitation.

“This woman is unstable! She attacked me! She is endangering my son’s unborn child!”

Alejandro didn’t move.

He simply watched.

One of the officers turned to him.

“Sir, what’s going on here?”

Alejandro held up his phone.

“I made the call.”

That alone changed the tone in the room.

Not because of volume.

But because of authority.

My mother-in-law blinked.

Confusion flashed across her face for the first time.

Alejandro continued calmly:

“Attempted murder. Forged military documentation. Psychological coercion. I want everything documented.”

The officer looked at him closely.

Then at the table.

Then at the iron.

Still glowing faintly.

Still dangerous.

The silence deepened.

And then—

Alejandro stepped forward and picked up the stack of papers.

He handed them directly to the officer.

“These are falsified medical reports. These are fabricated psychiatric evaluations. And this,” he said, holding up the casualty notice, “is a forged death certificate.”

The officer’s expression hardened.

My mother-in-law laughed nervously.

“It’s all misunderstandings—she’s confused, she’s been—”

“Ma’am,” the officer interrupted, “step aside.”

May you like

For the first time—

her smile faltered.
