Chapter 2: The Locked Nursery

Chapter 2: The Locked Nursery

Mrs. Hawthorne personally led Elena through the mansion.

"This will be your room," she said politely.

"The kitchen is always open."

"The staff quarters are downstairs."

Everything appeared perfect.

Almost too perfect.

Every servant smiled...

But never for long.

Every hallway was spotless...

Except the third floor.

As they climbed the grand staircase, Mrs. Hawthorne suddenly stopped.

"You are never to enter the east wing."

Elena hesitated.

"I'm sorry?"

"The east wing."

"There is one room at the end of the hallway."

"It remains locked."

"If you hear noises..."

"Ignore them."

Elena felt a chill.

"But isn't the child—"

"Our son stays there."

Mrs. Hawthorne interrupted without emotion.

"You will care for him only when instructed."

"And you will never ask questions."

That night, Elena couldn't sleep.

Just after midnight...

She heard it.

A child laughing.

Then crying.

Then...

Someone whispering,

May you like

"Help me..."

The voice came from the locked nursery.
