Chapter 1: The Truth Inside the Security Room

Chapter 1: The Truth Inside the Security Room
The mansion was silent except for the hum of the security monitors.
Daniel Crawford stared at the screen in disbelief.
There was no misunderstanding.
No missing angle.
No innocent explanation.
The footage clearly showed his wife, Victoria, unlocking the family safe after the maid had finished cleaning upstairs. She removed bundles of cash, a velvet jewelry case, and quietly placed everything inside the maid Maria's canvas work bag before calling the police herself.
Daniel replayed the recording three times.
Each viewing made his expression harder.
He walked out of the security room without saying a word.
Victoria was waiting in the grand foyer, still wearing the same satisfied smile.
"Well?" she asked. "I assume they're taking that thief away."
Daniel held up a tablet displaying the footage.
"You framed her."
Victoria's smile vanished.
"I..."
"The cameras never stopped recording."
Before she could answer, Daniel called the lead police officer.
"Release Maria immediately."
"There has been a false accusation."
Outside, the handcuffs were removed from Maria's wrists.
Her two young sons rushed into her arms, crying with relief.
Confused officers escorted Daniel and Victoria back inside the mansion.
One question remained.
"Why?"
Victoria lowered her eyes.
"Because you trusted her more than you trusted me."

Daniel stared at the woman he had married, realizing jealousy had turned into something far more dangerous.
She had been willing to destroy an innocent family to satisfy her own insecurity.
