Marcus didn’t notice the silence changing.

Not at first.

Not until the hotel manager—who had always greeted him with nervous respect—avoided his eyes for the first time.

Isabella stood outside in the cold night air, the city lights reflecting off the glass towers she had helped finance, design, and approve.

She wasn’t shaking.

Not anymore.

Her phone was still in her hand.

Her father didn’t need more explanation.

He never did.

Inside the hotel, Marcus laughed as security escorted her away.

“You really should’ve known your place,” he said casually, adjusting his cufflinks. “This empire doesn’t run on sentimental attachments.”

The mistress leaned into him, smiling.

But something in the background shifted.

A phone buzzed.

Then the hotel manager froze mid-step.
