Norah tugged lightly at Matteo’s sleeve again.
“Sir?” she asked. “Is Mommy’s account okay?”
The words made something shift in Matteo’s face.
Caleb leaned in.
“She said ‘Mommy’s account’?”
Matteo didn’t answer.
Because now he was staring at the screen Gregory had abandoned.
He walked to it.
And read the account header again.
VALE, ELEANOR — TRUSTED PRIVATE HOLDING
For a moment, the noise in the room vanished completely.
Matteo exhaled slowly.
So that’s what she had done.

Gregory found his voice again.
“This is fraud,” he said quickly, panicked now. “The account must be frozen, the child is manipulating—”
Matteo turned sharply.
Not angry.
Decisive.
“Say that again,” he said.
Gregory hesitated.
Caleb took a step forward.
And suddenly Gregory understood something he should have realized earlier:
These were not investors.
Not guests.
Not civilians.
These were people used to consequences.
Gregory lowered his voice.
“…I am simply following protocol.”
Matteo nodded slowly.
“Good,” he said.
