Victor finally let go of Emily’s hair.

Not gently.

Like releasing something dangerous.

Emily collapsed slightly in her chair, one hand still trembling on her scalp.

I stepped closer to the table.

“Stand up,” I said softly to her.

She hesitated.

Years of fear don’t disappear instantly.

But she stood.

Slowly.

Shaking.

Behind me, Margaret scoffed again—but her voice had changed.

“You think a few papers and police officers will ruin our family?”

I turned to her.

“No,” I said calmly.

“You already did that.”

Victor laughed nervously.

“You don’t understand what you’re doing. My family owns half this district.”

I opened the folder again.

And slid out a single page.

A financial audit.

Then I placed it in front of him.

His eyes scanned it.

Once.

Twice.

Then stopped completely.

Because the money wasn’t there anymore.

Not his companies.

Not his accounts.

Not even the assets he believed were untouchable.

Emily whispered, “Dad… what is that?”

I finally looked at her.

Softly.

“That,” I said, “is everything they built using your name and your silence.”

The officer took a step forward.

“Sir Victor Hale,” he said, reading from the documents, “you are being detained for financial fraud, coercion, and domestic assault allegations.”

Victor’s voice broke.

“This is impossible.”

But the doors opened again.

And three more officers entered.

Margaret stood up so fast her chair fell backward.

“This is a mistake!” she shouted. “You don’t arrest people like us!”
