He turned back to me slowly.

The arrogance was gone now.

Replaced with something unfamiliar.

Calculation.

“Who are you?” he asked again.

But this time, it wasn’t mocking.

It was searching.

I took another step forward.

The sound of glass crunching under my heel filled the space between us.

“You didn’t check,” I said quietly.

His jaw tightened.

“Check what?”

I smiled faintly.

“The ownership structure.”

A murmur spread through the crowd.

Phones came out.

Searches began.

Whispers followed.

And then—

One guest froze.

“Oh my God…”

Another leaned over.

“No way…”

The name on the corporate registry had finally loaded.

And it wasn’t his family.

It wasn’t his father.

It wasn’t any of the powerful names in the room.

It was mine.

The heir blinked rapidly.

“That’s impossible,” he muttered. “You’re just—”

“Just what?” I interrupted softly.
