CHAPTER I – THE NAME HE NEVER FORGOT
For a moment, nobody moved.
The sounds of Volunteer Park seemed to fade into the distance.
Ethan stared at the boy beneath the lamppost.
Noah.
The name meant nothing.
But the surname meant everything.
Reed.
The same surname Clara had carried when she vanished from his life ten years ago.
The same Clara who had left only a short message:
"Don't look for me. It's better this way."
Ethan had spent years wondering why.
Years convincing himself to move on.
Yet standing before him was a boy with his eyes.
His expression.
Even the slight crease between his brows when he was nervous.
“How old are you?” Ethan asked.
Noah hesitated.
“T-ten.”
The answer struck like lightning.
Ten years.
Exactly ten.
Oliver looked between them excitedly.
“I told you he was my brother.”
Noah frowned.
May you like
“I don't have a brother.”
But even he didn't sound convinced.
