CHAPTER 2 — THE WOMAN THEY THREW OUT

CHAPTER 2 — THE WOMAN THEY THREW OUT

Charlotte's knees hit the polished marble.

The impact echoed through the silent lobby.

The woman in white silk adjusted her designer sunglasses as if nothing unusual had happened.

"Security," she snapped.

"Remove her before she scares my guests."

Two security guards hesitated.

Charlotte looked exhausted.

Her clothes were torn.

But there was something about her calm expression that made them pause.

One guard stepped forward carefully.

"Miss... do you need medical assistance?"

Before Charlotte could answer, the socialite cut him off.

"Don't speak to her."

She pointed toward the revolving doors.

"I said throw her out."

The lobby manager hurried over.

"Mrs. Kensington, please don't worry. We'll handle this."

Charlotte slowly stood, wiping the blood from her lip.

"I'd like to speak with the general manager."

Mrs. Kensington laughed loudly.

"The general manager doesn't meet with beggars."

Charlotte nodded once.

"I thought you might say that."

She reached into the torn lining of her jacket and removed a small silver key.

Not a room key.

A secure executive access key.

The manager frowned.

"Where did you get that?"

May you like

Charlotte simply replied,

"It belongs to me."
