CHAPTER 4 — THE EMPIRE RETURNS HOME

CHAPTER 4 — THE EMPIRE RETURNS HOME
Within the hour, the board of directors assembled in the executive conference room.
Charlotte had changed into a simple navy suit provided by the hotel staff.
The bruises on her face remained visible.
She made no effort to hide them.
The meeting lasted less than thirty minutes.
The corrupt executives who had secretly tried to seize control of the company were suspended pending investigation.
Financial records revealed forged contracts, hidden transfers, and attempts to dilute Charlotte's ownership after her mother's death.
The conspiracy unraveled faster than anyone expected.
As for Mrs. Kensington...
She learned she had never actually been one of Solmere's elite investors.
She had merely been the guest of one.
Her lifetime VIP privileges were permanently revoked.
The general manager who had failed to protect a guest was dismissed for gross misconduct.
Before leaving the resort that evening, Charlotte returned to the same lobby where she had been dragged across the floor.
Employees stood in two quiet rows.
The new acting manager stepped forward.
"We owe you an apology."
Charlotte looked around the lobby.
"This isn't only about me."
She glanced toward the young concierge who had quietly offered her a glass of water when no one else dared.
"Every guest deserves dignity."
"It should never depend on their clothes, their appearance, or what people assume about them."
The staff nodded silently.
Outside, the sun dipped below the ocean, casting golden light across the entrance to the Solmere Resort.
Charlotte paused before getting into her car.
Her mother's words echoed in her mind:
"Character is revealed by how people treat those they believe have nothing to offer."
She smiled softly.
The people who had judged her by her appearance believed they were protecting power.
Instead, they had exposed their own lack of integrity.
And on the day they tried to throw a stranger out of the resort...
May you like
They unknowingly tried to remove the very person who owned it.
The End.
