CHAPTER 3 — THE NAME ON THE DEED
The elevator doors opened.
An elderly man stepped into the lobby.
Everyone immediately recognized him.
Edward Morrison.
Chairman of the Solmere Resort Board.
The staff straightened instantly.
"Mr. Morrison!"
He ignored everyone else.
His eyes landed on Charlotte.
For a heartbeat, he looked frozen.
Then he hurried across the marble floor.
"Miss Vale..."
The entire lobby went silent.
Edward removed his suit jacket and gently placed it around Charlotte's shoulders.
"I'm deeply sorry."
Mrs. Kensington frowned.
"You know this woman?"
Edward slowly turned.
"Know her?"
His voice hardened.
"She owns this resort."
Silence.
The words seemed impossible.
The manager blinked repeatedly.
"Sir... there must be some mistake."
"There is."
Edward looked around the lobby.
"The mistake was allowing the owner of Solmere Resorts to be assaulted inside her own property."
Charlotte reached into her pocket and handed him a sealed envelope.
"I think it's time."
Edward opened it.
Inside was her mother's original succession letter, notarized ownership documents, and a signed emergency order activating Charlotte's full authority as majority shareholder.
Every color drained from the manager's face.

"No..."
