Chapter 3 – The Hand Inside the Coffin

Chapter 3 – The Hand Inside the Coffin
No one moved.
No one breathed.
The coffin shook slightly.
Then stopped.
Silence returned—heavier than before.
The widow whispered:
“It’s not possible…”
Daniel raised the sledgehammer again, but his grip loosened.
“I already broke it open,” he said quietly.
“So what is that?”
Then it happened.
A crack split from the inside.
Wood bent outward.
And a hand pushed through.
Pale.
Shaking.
Alive.
Screams erupted across the room.
The coffin lid was forced open from within as a man gasped for air—alive, disoriented, barely conscious.
Daniel stumbled backward.
“Mark…”
His brother’s eyes flickered open.
Dry lips parted.
And with the last strength he had left, he whispered:
“They didn’t bury me to honor me…”
“They buried me to silence me.”
The envelope slipped from Daniel’s hands.
Everything inside it suddenly made sense.
The fake death.
The forced disappearance.
The confession written under threat.
And the coffin…
Was never meant to be a resting place.
It was a prison.
Outside, sirens began to rise in the distance.
Closer.
Closer.
Until the truth finally caught up with the dead man who refused to stay buried.
And for the first time in years…
Daniel understood what the sledgehammer had really done.
It didn’t destroy a coffin.
May you like
It freed a witness.
THE END.
