Marcus cleared his throat.
"There is something else."
He handed Daniel a small evidence envelope.
"We found this after reviewing the footage."
Inside lay a silver locket.
Emily gasped.
"My mother's..."
She reached for it before stopping herself.
"I lost it months ago."
Vanessa's face lost more color.
Daniel noticed.
"You've seen this before."
Vanessa remained silent.
Marcus opened another video.
The footage showed Vanessa entering Emily's tiny staff room weeks earlier.
She opened a drawer.
Removed the silver locket.
Then smiled.
Emily whispered,
"Why would she take it?"
Daniel carefully opened the locket.
Inside were two faded photographs.
One showed a young woman holding a baby.
The other showed Emily standing beside Daniel nearly eight years earlier at a charity hospital.
Daniel frowned.
"I remember this day."
Emily nodded slowly.
"My mother worked in your family's foundation."
"You donated money for her cancer treatment."
Vanessa suddenly shouted,
"Enough!"
"No one cares about old photographs!"
