Chapter 5 – Justice, Not Revenge

Chapter 5 – Justice, Not Revenge

Six months later...

The Hawthorne Museum reopened.

This time, the entrance displayed a new inscription beneath its glass ceiling.

"Truth survives only when witnesses refuse to look away."

Visitors stopped to read it.

Many recognized the words.

Some remembered the night that changed everything.

Grant Holloway was convicted after a public trial supported by overwhelming evidence.

Several officials who had protected him also faced prosecution.

The city slowly began rebuilding trust in its institutions.

One evening, Mara walked alone through the same gallery where blood had once stained the marble floor.

Everything had been restored.

The paintings.

The sculptures.

The silence.

A young museum guide approached her.

"Ms. Vale... do you ever regret locking everyone inside that night?"

Mara smiled gently.

"No."

She looked toward the security cameras hidden among the arches.

"I didn't lock innocent people in."

"I prevented the guilty from walking away."

The guide nodded.

For a long moment, neither of them spoke.

Outside, the city lights reflected against the museum's glass roof.

Inside, history remained exactly where it belonged—

protected.

Not by steel doors.

Not by powerful families.

May you like

But by ordinary people willing to tell the truth when it mattered most.

The End.
