Chapter 12 – The Truth About The Baby

THE ATTORNEY WHO DESTROYED THE MAN WHO BETRAYED HIS SISTER

Chapter 12 – The Truth About The Baby

For months, everyone believed the battle was over.

Richard Harrington had lost his company.

His reputation was destroyed.

His carefully built image had collapsed.

Vanessa Kensington had walked away.

And Khloe Harrington was finally preparing for the arrival of her daughter.

But there was one truth nobody knew.

One secret that had been hidden beneath all the lies.

The truth about the baby.

The Phone Call That Changed Everything

It happened on an ordinary Tuesday morning.

Khloe was sitting in Harrison's office, reviewing documents for the final divorce agreement.

She had learned to stop thinking about Richard every hour.

She had learned to breathe again.

She had learned that happiness could exist even after heartbreak.

Then her phone rang.

The number was from the fertility clinic.

Khloe froze.

For a moment, she forgot how to answer.

Because the clinic represented years of pain.

Years of disappointment.

Years of hoping.

She slowly picked up.

"Hello?"

"Mrs. Harrington?"

The woman's voice sounded nervous.

"Yes?"

"We need you to come in. There is something regarding your pregnancy records that requires clarification."

Khloe's hand tightened around the phone.

"Is something wrong with my baby?"

A pause.

"No."

The woman softened her voice.

"Your baby is fine."

Khloe closed her eyes.

Relief rushed through her.

"Then what is this about?"

"We need to discuss the original fertility information."

Those words stayed with her.

Original fertility information.

Something was wrong.

The Secret Richard Never Wanted Found

Two hours later, Khloe sat inside the fertility clinic.

Harrison sat beside her.

He immediately noticed the doctor looked uncomfortable.

"Dr. Morgan," Harrison said.

"You asked for this meeting. Please explain."

The doctor placed a file on the table.

"I discovered inconsistencies while reviewing Mrs. Harrington's records."

Khloe looked confused.

"Inconsistencies?"

The doctor nodded.

"Your pregnancy was recorded as a natural conception."

Khloe slowly nodded.

"Yes."

"But there was something unusual."

The doctor opened the file.

"Your previous IVF records show extremely low probability of natural pregnancy."

Khloe looked at her.

"Are you saying my pregnancy is impossible?"

"No."

The doctor shook her head.

"Not impossible."

She hesitated.

"Just unusual."

Harrison leaned forward.

"What are you telling us?"

The doctor took a breath.

"We found evidence that someone accessed your medical records before your pregnancy was confirmed."

Silence.

Khloe's face changed.

"Who?"

The doctor looked down.

"We don't know yet."

But Harrison already had a suspicion.

Richard.

The Man Who Controlled Everything

After leaving the clinic, Harrison immediately began investigating.

Richard had spent years controlling information.

Financial information.

Business information.

Personal information.

Why would medical records be any different?

Daniel found the first clue within forty-eight hours.

A payment.

Small.

Hidden.

But connected.

"Someone paid for access to the clinic database," Daniel said.

Harrison looked at the document.

"Who?"

Daniel hesitated.

Then placed another paper on the desk.

The name was there.

Richard Harrington.

For several seconds, nobody spoke.

Khloe's Fear

When Harrison told her, Khloe felt something she had not felt in months.

Fear.

Not for herself.

For her daughter.

"Why would he do this?"

Her voice shook.

Harrison sat beside her.

"We don't know yet."

But Khloe knew Richard better than anyone.

"He wanted control."

She looked at her stomach.

"Everything with Richard was about control."

The marriage.

The money.

The image.

Maybe even this.

The Question That Haunted Her

That night, Khloe could not sleep.

She sat in the nursery.

The small room was quiet.

Her daughter's clothes were folded neatly.

Tiny blankets waited inside the crib.

She placed her hand over her stomach.

"Are you really ours?"

The question broke her heart.

Not because she doubted her baby.

Never that.

But because Richard had poisoned even the happiest moment of her life.

The pregnancy she considered a miracle.

The child she had prayed for.

Now she wondered what Richard had done behind the scenes.

Richard's Hidden Confession

Harrison found Richard three days later.

Not at his mansion.

Not at his office.

A small private club where he used to conduct business meetings.

Richard looked tired.

Older.

"You came for answers."

Harrison remained silent.

"About the baby."

Richard's expression changed.

That was confirmation enough.

"You know something."

Richard looked away.

"Tell me."

Silence.

Then Richard finally spoke.

"I was scared."

Harrison's eyes narrowed.

"Scared of what?"

Richard laughed quietly.

"My entire life was built around legacy."

"The Harrington name."

"The company."

"Everything."

He looked down.

"When Khloe became pregnant, I realized something."

"What?"

Richard swallowed.

"I was going to lose control."

Harrison stared at him.

Because that was the real truth.

Richard was not afraid of becoming a father.

He was afraid of something he could not control.

The Unthinkable Reason

Richard continued.

"I knew Vanessa was pregnant too."

Harrison froze.

"What?"

Richard looked ashamed for the first time.

"She told me two months after Khloe."

The room became silent.

"She wanted me to choose her."

Harrison's expression hardened.

"But you already knew Khloe was carrying your child."

Richard nodded.

"I thought..."

He stopped.

"What did you think?"

Richard looked away.

"I thought I could manage everything."

There it was.

The same arrogance.

The same belief.

That people were pieces on a board.

The Secret Of Two Pregnancies

Harrison slowly understood.

Richard had not only betrayed Khloe.

He had created a situation where two women were carrying his children.

Two lives connected by his selfish choices.

But there was more.

The clinic records revealed something else.

Vanessa's pregnancy had been confirmed through another clinic.

And the timing...

Matched.

Richard had been living two separate futures.

A wife carrying his daughter.

A mistress carrying another child.

And he believed he could choose which life benefited him most.

Khloe Makes Her Decision

When Harrison told Khloe everything, she cried.

Not loudly.

Not dramatically.

Just silently.

"Why?"

That was the only question she could ask.

Harrison had no answer.

After a long silence, Khloe wiped her tears.

Then she looked toward the nursery.

"My daughter will not grow up surrounded by lies."

Harrison nodded.

"What do you want to do?"

Khloe looked stronger than ever.

"I want the truth."

Not revenge.

Not destruction.

Just truth.

Because she had spent too many years living inside someone else's version of reality.

The New Battle Begins

The world thought Richard Harrington had already lost.

They were wrong.

The biggest secret had not been revealed yet.

Because the fall of a powerful man was never complete until everyone understood why he fell.

Richard had destroyed his marriage.

He had damaged his company.

He had betrayed the mother of his child.

But now another question remained.

What would happen when the world discovered Richard Harrington had been hiding two pregnancies?

And what would happen when the two children born from his lies entered the same world?

Khloe looked at her unborn daughter.

And made a promise.

"No matter what happens..."

"You will know the truth."

For the first time in months, she was not fighting for a marriage.

She was not fighting for money.

She was fighting for her daughter's future.

And this time...

May you like

Richard Harrington would not be able to hide.

To be continued...
