Medical records told a painful story.
There had been repeated emergency visits over several months.
Each time, Emily had claimed she had fallen.
This time, she told the truth.
Ryan had pushed her.
Grabbed her arms.
Threatened her whenever she spoke about leaving.
Linda had stood nearby.
Sometimes silent.
Sometimes encouraging him.
Detectives obtained messages from Emily's phone that she had been too frightened to delete.
Several neighbors also agreed to testify after admitting they had heard shouting through the apartment walls for months.
One elderly neighbor lowered her head during questioning.
"I should have called sooner."
Detective Maria Lawson answered gently.

Ryan and Linda were arrested on charges related to the alleged abuse while the investigation continued.
