Richard was arrested on charges related to assault.
The officers warned that additional charges could follow depending on the investigation.
Diane begged Emily not to press further.
"We're still your family."
Emily looked at the bruise forming on her neck.
"Family doesn't decide whose life matters."
Brandon tried to apologize.
"I never thought Dad would actually hurt you."
Emily answered,
May you like
"You stood there."
Those three words hurt Brandon more than any accusation.
