The ringing refused to stop.
One phone.
Then another.
Then another.
Within seconds, every executive at the Harrison family table was staring at a screen filled with urgent notifications.
Brendan frowned as he answered first.
"This is Brendan Harrison."
His confident expression disappeared.
"What do you mean my access has been suspended?"
Across the table, his uncle stood abruptly.
"My company email just logged me out."
Another executive looked pale.
"My corporate cards have been frozen."
Jessica glanced nervously between them.
"What's happening?"
No one answered.
Diane grabbed her son's arm.
"Brendan, fix this."
"I can't!"
His voice cracked.
"I don't have access to anything."
Before anyone could speak again, the dining room television switched on automatically.
The Harrison Global logo appeared.
Then a live broadcast from the corporate headquarters.
The Chairman stood behind the podium.
"Ladies and gentlemen, pursuant to emergency shareholder authority under Protocol 7, the Board of Directors has voted unanimously to suspend several senior executives pending investigation."
Names appeared on the screen.
Brendan Harrison.
William Harrison.
Charles Harrison.
Rebecca Collins.
One after another.
Every executive seated at the dinner table.
Gasps filled the room.
Then came the final announcement.
"The Board will now introduce the majority shareholder whose authority initiated this action."
Everyone stared at the screen.
Instead of a video feed...
The Chairman slowly turned toward someone standing just off camera.
He smiled respectfully.
"Ms. Emily Carter."
Every head in the dining room turned toward me.
I remained seated.
Calm.
Silent.
Diane whispered, "No..."
The Chairman continued.
"For more than eight years, Ms. Carter has quietly served as the controlling shareholder through the Harrison Family Trust."
"She owns fifty-one percent of Harrison Global Holdings."
