CHAPTER 2 — THE BOARDROOM VERDICT

CHAPTER 2 — THE BOARDROOM VERDICT

The convoy pulled away from the mansion without slowing.

I never looked back.

Inside the lead car, my assistant, Naomi, placed a tablet in front of me.

"The emergency board meeting begins in seven minutes."

I nodded.

"And the voting proxies?"

"All verified."

"The legal team?"

"Already waiting."

The screen lit up with the faces of twelve directors.

Some looked nervous.

Others looked relieved.

They had spent years believing Lucas Harrington controlled the company.

Tonight they learned the truth.

I didn't interrupt.

I simply listened as the General Counsel stood.

"Effective immediately, Mrs. Isabella Harrington has exercised the voting rights attached to her family's majority shares."

A document appeared on every screen.

Resolution One.

Removal of Lucas Harrington as Chief Executive Officer.

The vote lasted less than thirty seconds.

Unanimous.

Resolution Two.

Removal of Richard Harrington as Executive Chairman.

Again...

Unanimous.

My phone vibrated.

Lucas.

Five missed calls.

Then ten.

Then twenty-three.

I silenced the phone without reading a single message.

May you like

For years they had demanded my silence.

Now it was theirs.
