Ethan frowned. “What is this? Just tell me—she’s lying, right?”

The doctor didn’t answer.

Instead, he rotated the monitor.

The room went silent.

I saw it first.

The screen wasn’t showing one heartbeat.

It was showing two.

Two distinct flickering pulses.

Two lives.

Ethan stepped closer slowly.

“What… is that?” he asked.

The doctor spoke carefully.

“There are two embryos.”

Ethan blinked.

Then laughed nervously.

“So what? Some mistake?”

The doctor shook his head.

“No mistake.”

He paused.

Then added:

“They are both developing normally.”

Silence swallowed the room.

Ethan’s expression shifted.

Confusion.

Then disbelief.

Then something deeper.

Fear.

“That’s not possible,” he muttered. “We weren’t even—”

The doctor interrupted him.

“Sir,” he said firmly.

“These pregnancies match your genetic markers.”

The words hit like a slap.

Ethan froze.

Slowly turned toward me.

For the first time since he accused me of cheating…
