When Jasper arrived outside his apartment building, two tow trucks were already waiting.
Security officers stood beside the SUV.
One handed him an envelope.
He opened it.
Notice of Asset Recovery.
His smile disappeared.
"You can't take this."
"It's my wife's car."
The officer remained polite.
"The vehicle belongs to Robertson Holdings."
"We've verified ownership."
"If you interfere with its recovery, local authorities will be notified."
Neighbors watched from their balconies.
Jasper felt heat rise in his face.
"This is ridiculous!"
His phone rang again.
This time it was his company's chief financial officer.
"Jasper..."
"You need to come to the office immediately."
"What happened?"
"The Robertson investment group has withdrawn every line of financial support."
Jasper froze.
"What?"
"They weren't just investors."
"They were our largest strategic partner."
"They've also requested immediate repayment under the breach clauses."
His heartbeat quickened.
"That's impossible."
The CFO's voice trembled.
"Our emergency board meeting starts in one hour."
"If we can't replace that funding..."
