CHAPTER 3 — The Woman Who Thought She Was Untouchable

Within an hour...

The family lawyer arrived.

Along with Ethan's head of security.

The footage played on the living room television.

No edits.

No missing moments.

Margaret entering the nursery.

Her shouting.

Her grabbing Sophia by the hair.

Dragging her across the floor.

Ignoring the baby's cries.

Every second had been recorded.

When the video ended...

Silence filled the mansion.

Margaret tried to speak.

"She provoked me."

The lawyer closed his folder.

"The recording contains no such evidence."

"I am your mother!"

Margaret shouted.

"You owe me respect."

Ethan slowly stood.

"I owe my wife safety."

He looked directly into his mother's eyes.

"And today...

I failed to protect her."

Sophia reached for his hand.

He squeezed it gently.

Then spoke the words no one expected.

"As of today...

Your access to this house is permanently revoked."

Margaret laughed nervously.

"You can't be serious."

"I'm completely serious."

Security stepped forward.

"Mrs. Collins..."

"Please come with us."

"You would throw me out?"

"I attacked no one!"

The head of security quietly replied,

"The cameras disagree."
