“Elena,” he said softly.
She shook her head once.
A tiny motion.
Barely visible.
But it said everything.
Don’t. Not here. Not like this.
Alejandro turned his head toward the staff.
“How long has she been here?”
No one answered.
That silence told him more than any confession could.
Vivian sighed.
“This is absurd. She’s been employed here for three years under clearance contracts. She signed them herself.”
Elena whispered something.
So quiet it almost disappeared under the rain.
Alejandro leaned in.
“What?”
Her voice broke.
“I didn’t sign anything.”
