Chapter 2: The Cameras Never Lie

Daniel laid his unconscious wife, Emma, gently on the pool deck as guests gathered around in panic.

"Call an ambulance!" he shouted.

Their six-year-old son, Noah, knelt beside his mother, crying.

"Daddy... please wake Mommy..."

Daniel pressed trembling fingers against Emma's neck.

A pulse.

Weak—but there.

She suddenly coughed, forcing water from her lungs before opening her eyes.

"I'm okay..." she whispered.

Daniel wrapped her in his arms.

"No. You're not."

His gaze slowly lifted toward the woman dressed in white.

Sophia.

His cousin's wife.

She stood frozen, trying to compose herself.

"It... it was an accident," she stammered.

"She slipped."

Several guests nodded uncertainly.

No one had seen clearly.

Or so Sophia believed.

Daniel stood.

His voice was frighteningly calm.

"Did she?"

Sophia forced a smile.

"Everyone knows pregnant women lose their balance."

Daniel looked toward the villa manager.

"Bring me the security recordings."

The manager hesitated.

"The cameras around the pool..."

Sophia interrupted quickly.

"They've been broken for weeks."

Daniel slowly smiled.

"No."

May you like

"They were replaced yesterday."

Sophia's face turned pale.
