Chapter 2: The Owner No One Recognized

Not a single guest spoke.

The venue manager remained respectfully bowed.

"Madam," he repeated, "the board has arrived. They're waiting for your instructions."

Patricia laughed nervously.

"This is ridiculous."

She turned toward Andrew.

"Tell him who I am."

Andrew didn't move.

His eyes remained fixed on the documents.

Clara calmly accepted the leather portfolio.

She opened the first page.

The deed.

The trust agreement.

The operating license.

Her signature appeared on every final document.

"I inherited Whitestone Estate from my grandfather six months ago," she said quietly.

"I chose not to announce it."

Patricia folded her arms.

"If you own this place, why were you sewing your own dress?"

Clara smiled sadly.

"Because my grandmother taught me that the value of a dress isn't measured by its price."

She gently lifted a torn piece of lace from the floor.

"It comes from the love stitched into it."

Several guests lowered their eyes.

The silence became uncomfortable.

Then the venue manager spoke again.

"There is one more matter."

He nodded toward the security team.

"The ballroom cameras recorded everything."

Large display screens surrounding the hall suddenly came to life.

Every guest watched the footage.

Patricia grabbing the dress.

Patricia deliberately tearing it apart.

Andrew standing still.

Not once attempting to stop his mother.

There could be no misunderstanding.

No excuse.
