Six months later, Daniel and Sophie stood on a quiet beach watching the sunrise.
No photographers.
No luxury ballroom.
No elaborate decorations.
Just the sound of waves rolling onto the sand.
Sophie slipped her hand into his.
"Dad?"
"Yeah?"
"Are you sad the wedding didn't happen?"
Daniel smiled.
"For one day?"
"Maybe."
He looked at her.
"But I'd be sad for the rest of my life if I ignored what happened to you."
She leaned against him.
"I like this better."
"So do I."
