CHAPTER 2: THE TRUTH THEY BURIED

CHAPTER 2: THE TRUTH THEY BURIED

Esteban moved first.

He grabbed a metal tray and struck one guard hard enough to drop him. The second guard lunged—but Esteban shoved him into the wall.

“Run!” he shouted.

The little girl hesitated.

“Lia!” Yohandra cried.

That broke her.

She ran straight into the room, hiding behind the bed.

The father didn’t react quickly. He simply watched, almost amused.

“You always were impulsive,” he said to Esteban. “That’s why I chose to control your life early.”

Esteban froze.

“…What?”

The older man walked in slowly.

“You think your relationship with Yohandra was coincidence?”

A cold silence.

Esteban’s throat tightened.

His father continued:

“I placed her in my clinic. I ensured you met her. I observed how easily you bonded.”

Yohandra shook her head violently.

“No… that’s not true…”

But the man didn’t look at her.

He looked at Esteban.

“I needed to know whether you could be controlled through emotion.”

Esteban’s hands shook.

“You used her.”

“I tested you,” the father corrected.

The room felt like it was collapsing inward.

Yohandra’s voice broke.

“You ruined my life… you erased me…”

The father finally looked at her fully.

“And yet you survived. That was unexpected.”

A pause.

Then the truth landed like a blade.

“But the child… that was never part of my plan.”

Esteban turned slowly toward Yohandra.

His voice was barely audible.

“…Is she telling the truth?”

Yohandra’s tears spilled over.

“Yes.”

The father nodded slightly, as if confirming a result.

“She is your daughter, Esteban. That is why she had to disappear with her mother.”

A siren suddenly wailed in the distance—security was closing in.

The father adjusted his cufflinks.

May you like

“This ends now.”

He signaled the guards outside.
