CHAPTER 2 — The Video That Shattered the Bride

CHAPTER 2 — The Video That Shattered the Bride

The screen lit up.

At first, it looked like a hotel hallway.

Then a private suite.

Then Isabelle Hart stepped into frame.

Not in her wedding dress.

But in a black evening outfit she wore two nights earlier at the pre-wedding gala.

She was laughing.

Not the polite kind of laugh she used in public.

This one was sharp.

Confident.

Unfiltered.

Then a man appeared behind her.

A board member from Ethan’s company.

Ethan recognized him instantly.

Isabelle turned toward him and said:

“Once the wedding is done, he’ll sign anything I put in front of him.”

The man hesitated.

“You’re sure he doesn’t know about the merger clauses?”

Isabelle smiled.

“Ethan thinks he’s marrying love. Not leverage.”

The footage cut.

New angle.

Documents on a table.

Bank transfers.

A trust restructuring plan.

Ethan’s signature line already pre-filled.

Then Isabelle’s voice again:

“After the ceremony, we isolate him. By the time he realizes what happened, the assets are already consolidated.”

Back in the ballroom, someone dropped a glass.

Another person stood up.

Whispers spread like fire under dry wood.

Isabelle’s face drained of color.

“What is this?” she snapped, turning toward the speakers. “This is fake. This is sabotage.”

But Ethan didn’t look at her.

He looked at Maya.

The maid who was now standing completely still, hands folded, eyes lowered.

And he understood something chilling.

This wasn’t an accident.

This wasn’t chaos.

This was timing.

Ethan pressed the phone harder.

The video continued.

Final clip.

Isabelle, alone, speaking to someone off camera:

“If anything goes wrong, blame the maid. No one listens to staff.”

Silence hit the ballroom like gravity doubling.

Ethan finally spoke.

Low.

Controlled.

“What did you do?”

Isabelle stepped forward quickly.

“This is manipulation. She set me up.”

She pointed at Maya.

“She works for you! This is a conspiracy!”

But Maya finally looked up.

And said one sentence:

“No, Miss Hart. I worked for your accountant.”

That name landed harder than anything else.

Because Ethan’s accountant had died three weeks ago.

Suddenly, Ethan’s phone vibrated again.
