Chapter 2: The Girl Who Asked for Nothing

Chapter 2: The Girl Who Asked for Nothing
Word spread through the theater instantly.
Within minutes everyone knew something impossible had happened.
Backstage became chaos.
Managers.
Journalists.
Doctors.
Everyone wanted answers.
But the little girl remained calm.
As if none of it mattered.
Adrian approached her slowly.
"Who are you?"
She shrugged.
"Just Lily."
"No last name?"
She shook her head.
"No family?"
The girl looked away.
"Not anymore."
The answer hit harder than Adrian expected.
He suddenly noticed details he had ignored before.
The worn clothes.
The patched shoes.
The tired eyes.
This wasn't a child seeking attention.
This was a child carrying grief.
Yet somehow she was comforting everyone else.
"What do you want in return?" Adrian asked.
"Nothing."
The pianist blinked.
"Nothing?"
Lily smiled.
"You needed your music back."
"But why help me?"
The girl looked toward the stage.
"Because millions of people still need to hear it."
For a moment, Adrian couldn't speak.
Most people spent their lives wanting something.
Money.
Recognition.
Power.
This child wanted none of those things.
She simply wanted him to play.
The theater manager rushed in.
"The audience is waiting!"
Adrian looked down at his restored hand.
Then back at Lily.
"Come sit in the front row."
She shook her head.
"No."
"Why not?"
May you like
"Because tonight isn't about me."
Before he could respond, she disappeared into the crowd.
