Chapter 1: The Man in the White Shirt

Chapter 1: The Man in the White Shirt

The ballroom glittered with crystal chandeliers and designer gowns.

Every guest looked as if they had stepped out of a luxury magazine.

Except one man.

He stood quietly near the back of the room wearing a simple white shirt, dark trousers, and worn leather shoes.

No expensive watch.

No bodyguards.

No display of wealth.

Just a calm smile.

That was apparently enough to attract attention.

Sophia Lancaster, known throughout the city for flaunting her wealth, spotted him almost immediately.

She laughed loudly enough for everyone nearby to hear.

"Did someone lose their waiter?"

Several guests chuckled.

Her husband, Victor Lancaster, the richest businessman in the city, smirked beside her.

Sophia walked closer.

"Do you even belong here?" she asked.

The man smiled politely.

"I was invited."

"By whom?"

"The bride."

The crowd laughed again.

Sophia folded her arms.

"You know, this wedding is for important people."

The man nodded.

"I know."

"You should try dressing like one."

The room erupted with laughter.

Yet the stranger never reacted.

Not once.

His calmness only irritated Sophia more.

Then Victor finally looked directly at the man's face.

And everything changed.

The color vanished from his face.

His smile disappeared.

His hands began to shake.

The room slowly fell silent.

Because Victor Lancaster looked terrified.
