Chapter 2: The Bow

Chapter 2: The Bow

"Victor?" Sophia asked nervously.

Her husband wasn't listening.

His eyes remained locked on the man in the white shirt.

A drop of sweat rolled down his forehead.

"No..." Victor whispered.

The guests exchanged confused looks.

Nobody understood what was happening.

Then Victor did something nobody expected.

He released his wife's hand.

Stepped forward.

And bowed.

Deeply.

So deeply that the room gasped.

"Sir," Victor said with a trembling voice, "please forgive us."

Complete silence.

Sophia stared in horror.

"What are you doing?"

Victor ignored her.

The man in the white shirt sighed softly.

"There is no need for this."

But Victor shook his head.

"Yes, there is."

Now everyone was staring.

Because this was the same Victor Lancaster who controlled billion-dollar companies.

The same Victor who had politicians waiting for meetings.

The same Victor who had never bowed to anyone.

Yet here he was.

Looking like a nervous employee before his boss.

Finally, someone asked the question everyone was thinking.

"Who is he?"

Victor swallowed hard.

Then answered.

"He owns the company that owns my company."

Gasps exploded across the ballroom.

Sophia's legs nearly gave out.

But Victor wasn't finished.

"He also owns the investment group that owns most of the businesses in this city."

The room became deathly quiet.

The stranger was not merely wealthy.

May you like

He was the invisible force behind many of the city's largest fortunes.

A man so powerful he never needed to show it.
