CHAPTER 2: The Video They Were Never Meant to See
“I’m sorry,” she said quietly.
Not to the bride.
Not to the guests.
To him.
Then she pressed play.
The screen lit up.
A recording.
The wedding suite corridor.
The bride.
Alone.
Opening a small vial.
Pouring something into a glass.
The same glass.
The groom’s breath caught.
“No…” he whispered.
The camera angle shifted slightly—clearer now.
The bride’s face was calm.
Deliberate.
Unbothered.
Someone in the background asked softly, “Are you sure it will work?”
Her voice, in the video, answered:
“He won’t make it past tonight.”
A scream rose somewhere in the hall.
A chair fell.
Someone shouted, “Stop the video!”
But no one moved to stop it.
Because everyone was watching the bride now.
And she wasn’t moving.
She wasn’t denying it.
She was just… frozen.
The groom stumbled back.
His voice broke.
“You… you tried to kill me?”
The bride finally snapped out of it.
“That’s edited! That’s not real!”
May you like
But her voice cracked halfway through.
And that was enough.
