CHAPTER I – THE IMPOSSIBLE ANSWER

CHAPTER I – THE IMPOSSIBLE ANSWER

The man stared at the little girl.

The world around him seemed to fade into silence.

“No,” he said softly, almost to himself. “That's not possible.”

The girl tilted her head.

“Why?”

His hands trembled as he took the photograph.

The woman smiling in it was unquestionably his wife, Sarah.

Five years ago, police had found her car at the bottom of a cliff.

No body had ever been recovered.

But after months of searching, everyone had accepted the same conclusion.

She was gone.

The little girl pointed down the street.

“My mommy lives there.”

The man's heart slammed against his ribs.

“What's your mother's name?”

The girl smiled.

May you like

“Sarah.”

His knees nearly gave out.
