CHAPTER II – THE HOUSE WITH THE BLUE DOOR

CHAPTER II – THE HOUSE WITH THE BLUE DOOR

The little girl led him through a maze of narrow streets.

His mind fought against every possibility.

A coincidence.

A misunderstanding.

Someone who merely looked like Sarah.

Anything except the truth.

Finally, they stopped in front of a small house with a faded blue door.

The girl pushed it open.

“Mom! I'm home!”

Footsteps echoed from inside.

The man stopped breathing.

A woman appeared in the doorway.

A mug slipped from her hands and shattered on the floor.

For several seconds, neither moved.

Neither blinked.

The woman's eyes filled instantly.

“Daniel?”

His entire body shook.

“Sarah.”

The name escaped like a prayer.

A ghost.

A miracle.

Or perhaps something in between.

May you like

Because the woman standing before him was undeniably his wife.

Alive.
