Chapter 6 – A Different Christmas

Chapter 6 – A Different Christmas
One year later, the mansion looked completely different.
The Christmas party wasn't filled with strangers.
It was filled with family.
The dining table overflowed with homemade food.
The girls ran through the house wearing matching red sweaters, laughing as they searched for hidden presents.
Alejandro's accountant joined him by the fireplace.
"The court finalized everything this morning."
Alejandro nodded quietly.
He had spent the past year rebuilding more than a business.
He had rebuilt trust.
His daughters no longer asked whether they were allowed to eat.
They no longer apologized for being hungry.
They no longer feared opening the refrigerator.
Valeria ran over carrying a handmade Christmas card.
She handed it to her father.
On the front she had written in careful, uneven letters:
"The best Christmas present isn't toys. It's having our daddy home."
Alejandro hugged all four girls tightly.
Outside, soft snow began to fall over Las Lomas.
Inside, warmth filled every room.
He finally understood the lesson that success had taken years to teach him:
Children don't measure love by the size of a house, the number of gifts under the tree, or the money in a bank account.
They remember who sat beside them when they were hungry.
Who listened when they were afraid.
May you like
And who came home when they needed them most.
The End.
