PART 1: THE ROOM THAT STARTED TO TURN

PART 1: THE ROOM THAT STARTED TO TURN

The silence in the hospital room wasn’t normal silence.

It was the kind that happens when everyone realizes something irreversible has just begun.

Vanessa’s hand twitched slightly.

Not fear yet.

Confusion.

“What evidence?” she asked, forcing a laugh. “Are you threatening me in a hospital?”

My father didn’t move.

He simply stepped further into the room.

And the air changed with him.

Two security guards who had rushed in earlier suddenly stopped at the doorway.

Not because they were told to.

Because they recognized him.

Ethan noticed that first.

His lips parted slightly.

“…Sir?”

My father didn’t look at him.

He kept his eyes on Vanessa.

“You touched my daughter,” he said calmly. “In a medical facility. While she was pregnant.”

A pause.

“And you did it on camera.”

Vanessa scoffed, but it came out weaker.

“So what? Hospital cameras don’t prove intent—”

“Good,” my father interrupted gently.

“Then you won’t mind when we review all of them.”

That was the first crack.

Small.

But visible.
