PART 3: THE MOMENT VANESSA REALIZED SHE LOST CONTROL

Vanessa tried to recover.

She always had control before.

Always the voice in the room.

Always the one people listened to.

“This is harassment,” she said sharply. “You’re using your influence to intimidate me.”

My father nodded slowly.

“Yes,” he said.

A pause.

“I am.”

Vanessa blinked.

He continued.

“But not for the reason you think.”

He reached into his jacket and placed a slim black folder on the hospital table.

It didn’t open yet.

It didn’t need to.

Because Ethan already recognized it.

His face drained of color completely.

“No…” he whispered. “That’s internal audit material…”

My father tilted his head slightly.

“Correct.”

Vanessa stepped back for the first time.

“What is that?” she demanded.

My father finally answered.

“The documentation of every financial transfer you thought was hidden.”

A pause.

“And every signature you convinced my son-in-law to obtain while my daughter was sedated.”

Ethan turned sharply toward Vanessa.

“What did you do?” he asked, voice breaking.

Vanessa froze.

Because she understood something now.

She was no longer arguing.

She was being recorded.
