The courtroom did not recover.

Not after the recording.

Not after the voice of Clara echoed through every corner like a confession that had been waiting months to be heard.

But the girl didn’t flinch.

She stood in the center aisle, barefoot on polished marble, clutching the pink phone as if it weighed more than the truth itself.

The judge leaned forward.

“Where did you get that recording?” he demanded.

The girl looked up.

“I recorded it.”

A murmur swept the room.

The prosecutor scoffed.

“Your Honor, this is absurd. That child—”

“Play it again,” the judge interrupted.

Silence snapped back into place.

The recording played a second time.

This time, no one breathed.

Not even Clara.

Her lawyer whispered urgently, but she didn’t answer.

Because she knew what was coming next.

Not doubt.

Not debate.

Collapse.

Mrs. Gable slowly lifted her head for the first time in hours.
