Chapter 1: The Secret Behind the Simple Man

Chapter 1: The Secret Behind the Simple Man
The wedding hall fell silent.
Not a single guest dared to speak.
Moments earlier, Eleanor had stood alone, humiliated by her future mother-in-law, Margaret Hawthorne.
Margaret had spent months reminding everyone that Eleanor was marrying beneath her potential.
"A schoolteacher marrying a man with no wealth, no title, no influence," she had sneered.
And yet, through every insult, Eleanor had stayed.
Not because of money.
Not because of status.
But because she loved Daniel.
Or at least, the man she thought Daniel was.
Now that same man stood before her wearing the crimson uniform of the Royal Guard.
The royal crest gleamed across his chest.
The entire room stared in disbelief.
Margaret's face had lost all color.
"Y-Your Highness..."
Daniel turned toward her calmly.
"No."
The room froze.
"My name is Prince Daniel Alexander Windsor."
Gasps erupted.
Eleanor could barely breathe.
"What... what is happening?" she whispered.
Daniel took her hands.
Three years earlier, he had secretly left the palace.
After watching countless people pursue him only because of his title, he began to question whether genuine love even existed.
So he created a new identity.
A simple man.
A modest apartment.
An ordinary job.
And then he met Eleanor.
The one woman who never asked about his money.
Never cared about his background.
Never demanded anything except honesty and kindness.
"I wanted to know if someone could love me without the crown," Daniel said.

His eyes filled with emotion.
"And you did."
